Why is it called 1040?
Flossmoor Social sits at 1040 Sterling Ave, in the heart of downtown Flossmoor. When we needed a name for a drink that could only exist here, the address was the obvious answer. Nobody else can pour a 1040.
What's in it?
The base is an Uncle Nearest Flossmoor Pick: a single barrel of Uncle Nearest whiskey selected for our bar.
What is a single barrel pick?
Most whiskey on a shelf is a blend of many barrels, mixed so every bottle tastes the same. A single barrel bottling comes from one barrel only. Every barrel ages a little differently, so every single barrel has its own character.
A barrel pick means a bar tasted the options and chose one. Ours is labeled the Flossmoor Pick. When it's gone, the next pick will taste different, which is part of the point.

The Smoked Young Fashioned, built on Bull Young Bourbon, is the other drink regulars ask for by name. Order one of each and compare.
When can I get one?
Every night we're open. Tuesday to Thursday 3 PM to 10 PM, Friday 3 PM to 11 PM, Saturday noon to 11 PM, Sunday noon to 9 PM. Closed Monday.
